About Loans Regina

Loans Regina is a free loan connection service for people who work in Regina and the towns within about thirty miles, from North Central to Lumsden and out Highway 1 to Balgonie. It sets payday and installment loans side by side under Saskatchewan law and sends one application to lenders the province has licensed. We never lend, and you never pay us.

What this site is

Loans Regina explains two loan products in dollars rather than adjectives and carries one apply link that reaches lenders licensed in Saskatchewan. A payday loan is $100 to $1500, costs at most $14 per $100, and is repaid in a single debit on your next pay date, never more than 62 days after it funds. An installment loan is $500 to $10000 at 18% to 35% APR, repaid monthly over 3 to 60 months.

The right one follows the calendar you are paid on: a power bill due four days before the provincial deposit is a one paycheque problem. A furnace in a 1950s Lakeview house, or a farm service worker's quiet months between harvest and seeding, outlasts any pay period and belongs with the installment page.

How we earn money

A lender pays Loans Regina a referral fee after a loan that began at our apply link has funded; that is the only money the site takes in, and the borrower pays us nothing. The fee does not raise the $14 per $100 or the APR, both capped by law, and nothing is paid on a declined application or on a payday loan cancelled by the end of the next business day.

We are paid for applications that lenders accept and fund, not for the largest number on a page, so every page tells you to ask for the amount one deposit can carry. The referral disclosure sets out the arrangement in full.

About Loans Regina, Regina

Who runs it

An independent Canadian publisher that runs a small number of local loan guides owns Loans Regina, and the Loans Regina Editorial Team writes and checks the pages. Nobody on the team lends, brokers or advises, and no lender sees a page before it goes up. The facts come from The Payday Loans Act, The Payday Loans Regulations, the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan (FCAA) and the federal Criminal Interest Rate Regulations. There are no reviews or testimonials here; we have not borrowed from these lenders and will not invent people who have.

The Saskatchewan rules every page follows

Each page is read against this list before publishing and again whenever a rule changes.

  • A payday loan costs at most $14 per $100, so $300 costs $42 and $342 comes back; over 14 days that is about 365% APR.
  • The maximum is $1500 and 62 days, and the lender may advance no more than 50% of your net pay for the period, which is why first loans usually land between $100 and $500.
  • Repayment is one debit on your next pay date. There is no second payday loan while the first is open and no rolling one loan into another.
  • You can cancel a payday loan at no cost by the end of the next business day after signing, by written notice to the lender and by returning the money.
  • Saskatchewan has no mandatory extended payment plan, and no page here will say a third loan triggers one. If a payment will be short, the honest route is a call to the lender before the due date and, failing that, a complaint to the FCAA.
  • Every payday lender holds an FCAA licence for each location it lends from, online lenders included, and a licence is not an endorsement.
  • Installment and personal lending sits under the 35% federal ceiling, and the age of majority is 18.
  • Regina is described as it is: provincial and Crown pay every second week, refinery and mill rotations on the north side, hospital rotations at the General and the Pasqua, heating bills peaking December to February.

What we are not

Loans Regina is not a lender and holds no licence under The Payday Loans Act, because a licence attaches to a lender and each location it lends from, and we lend from nowhere. We never ask for a bank login, a pay stub or identification; the lending platform behind the apply button collects those, and each lender there holds its own Saskatchewan licence. The FCAA page on borrowing from a payday lender sets out what a licensed lender owes you and how to complain when one falls short.

The site is an online service with no staffed office in Regina or anywhere else; everything happens on a phone, on a bus along 11th Avenue, in a break room at the Pasqua or at a kitchen table in Uplands. The contact page explains how to write to us, how applying works covers the three steps, and the FAQ picks up the rest.

How Loans Regina makes money: loansregina.ca is a free loan connection service, not a lender. When you apply, we match your application with licensed Canadian lenders and earn a referral fee from the lender if your loan funds. This never changes your rate or costs you anything. We do not make credit decisions and never charge borrowers. The lender sets and discloses the cost before you sign; payday fees are capped by provincial law and installment loans run 18% to 35% APR. All lending is subject to lender approval and provincial rules.
